The opening scene of Ionesco’s stage play “Rhinoceros.” Two men meet for on a Sunday afternoon. Berenger is hungover and lost. Jean can’t wait to judge him and tell him how to live his life. They argue about what life is all about and each of them is taken by surprise when a loud bellowing beast breaks their reality wide open. Berenger says to Jean after Jean berates him for not conforming to a normal working schedule - “I can’t get used to it. I just can’t get used to life.”
