Eric Hyde, born in Lawrence, Kansas on October 14, 1985, began his love for film in the 90's with cable TV and movie channels. He grew up around mechanics, photographers, musicians, and outdoorsmen. His first theatrical viewing, at the age of 6, was Terminator 2. Soon after, his mother took him to the local VHS store and purchased a used copy of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. And not long after that, he fell in love with the movie Predator. In 1994, he got hit by a car on his bicycle and nearly died. After a 17 day coma, he recovered with the help of speech, occupational, physical, and 'film' therapy. At the age of 12, he began making home movies -- reboots of Scream, The Blair Witch Project, and the Tom Green Show. Later in high school, he developed his skills in filmmaking - from VHS cameras and analog editing stations, to High 8 camcorders and Final Cut. This would lead him in 2004. at the age of 19, to purchase a Canon XL1-s mini DV camcorder, and to his first corporate gig, which was criticized for being "too artistic and somber" by his client. Discouraged from corporate work, he moved on to document the aftermath and rebuilding of New Orleans, post-Katrina, where he met with (former) members of the Black Panther, the BBC, the Army Corps of Engineers, an undercover FBI informant, and hundreds of other NOLA area residents. In 2007, he documented the aftermath and rebuilding of a town demolished by an f5 tornado in Greensburg, KS. And then he stopped. In 2017, he returned with the short film, From Ashes to Immortality, which is his debut short film. In late July 2017, Hyde filmed his first webseries pilot, Neosho Falls, and in August 2017, Hyde attended the SAFILM - San Antonio Film Festival with his From Ashes to Immortality actor Wes Studi (Last of the Mohicans, Dances with Wolves, Avatar, Penny Dreadful). Most recently, other than postproduction work for the Neosho Falls webseries pilot, Hyde has been interviewed by Robert Rodriguez's new reality TV show, Rebel without a Crew, has moved to Boise, Idaho, and is moving to Los Angeles this summer.
